As higher education institutions continue to discover the benefits of hosting data in the cloud, these environments are becoming increasingly complex.
Some of that was out of necessity, because there is no in-person interaction with students at WGU, but some was by design as the university’s early leaders took a technology-forward approach.
“For trained historians, the implications of such changes are far-reaching and include: the threat of redundancy; reduced scope for innovative teaching and research; greater inequality between institutions; and a diminishing of history’s influence and contribution beyond the university sector,” warns the report, which adds that students, too, will find their opportunities more limited.
The list of ways next week’s presidential election could affect higher education is long, with Trump and Harris administrations likely to differ significantly on issues such as student loans, accreditation, diversity and Title IX, to name just a few.
