    Student-led 'Rise Up' movement plans walkouts & strikes against Trump's education policies, citing attacks on academic freedom, DEI rollbacks, and research defunding. Protests in 50+ cities. Mass strike planned for May 1st, 2026.

    Trainees Rise Up: Mass Strike Planned

    The demonstrations belong to a modern activity called Trainees Rise Up, or Project Rise Up. The Activity Network web site says there will be “walkouts and objections at hundreds of schools” Friday– the start of an accumulation “to a mass trainee strike on May 1st, 2026, when we’ll join employees in the streets to interrupt business customarily.”

    “Establishments are once again dedicated to imposing federal civil rights legislations consistently, they are rooting out DEI and unconstitutional race choices, and they are recognizing sex as a biological truth in sports and intimate rooms,” she composed.

    AAUP Protests Trump’s Policies

    Participants of the American Organization of University Professors, the affiliated American Federation of Teachers and trainee teams are preparing objections in more than 50 cities Friday against “the Trump management’s broad attack” on greater ed, the AAUP introduced in a press release.

    “From strikes on academic liberty in the classroom to the defunding of life-saving scientific research to surveilling and detaining relaxed trainee militants, Trump’s college policies have been catastrophic for our communities and our freedom,” AAUP head of state Todd Wolfson claimed in the release. “We’re excited to help construct a union of trainees and workers joined in resisting for a college system that is inexpensive and available for all and offers the typical good.”
